Storm and Hail Damage in Kingsport, Tennessee
Hail is local. Genuinely local — one Kingsport street can be peppered and the next one over untouched. The only way to know which you are is to have somebody get up there.

Hail does not fall evenly
People assume that if the neighborhood got hit, the whole town got hit. Hail swaths are narrow. In a place laid out across a river valley with ridges either side, a storm can drop damaging stones along one corridor — say through Lynn Garden — and leave Ridgefields with nothing but rain. Which is why "my neighbor got a new roof" is not evidence about your roof, in either direction.
The season is more predictable than the swath. The Weather Service office at Morristown puts the hail peak in May, with damaging straight-line wind taking over in June and a second wind peak in November. That comes from a thirty-nine-county climatology over a long record, so it describes a season rather than your street — but it is why May storms are the ones we tell people not to ignore.
What we look for
Hail bruising on asphalt is a soft, dented spot with the granules knocked off — it does not leak today, it leaks in four years because the mat underneath is damaged. Wind shows up as creased or lifted shingles, usually along a rake or ridge. We also check the soft metals — gutters, downspouts, vents, flashing, and anything aluminum — because dents there are often what proves to an adjuster that hail of a damaging size actually fell on your property.
The claim, step by step
Free inspection with photographs and a written summary. You file with your carrier — we do not file for you, and we would be wary of anyone who wants to. The adjuster is assigned, and we meet them on the roof so the scope is written off what is up there rather than what could be seen from a ladder. Then we do the work and handle any supplement if the adjuster missed something.
How roof claims work is worth ten minutes before you pick up the phone, particularly the ACV-versus-RCV part, which is what determines whether you get the depreciation back.
Storm-chasers in Kingsport
They follow the swath. Within a week of any real hail there will be trucks with out-of-state plates working the affected streets. Ask where their office is, how long it has been there, and who honours the workmanship warranty in five years. SuperRoofs has been at this since June 2024 and holds an A rating with the Better Business Bureau, accredited since February 2025. Our guide to choosing a roofer lists the rest of the red flags.
