What our storms actually do
The National Weather Service office at Morristown, which covers this end of Tennessee, puts the hail peak in May, tornadoes in April, and damaging straight-line wind taking over as the main threat in June, with a second wind peak in November. That climatology is drawn from thirty-nine counties over a long record, so read it as the shape of a season rather than a forecast for your street. What lands on a roof is generally one of two things: hail bruising, which knocks granules off and leaves a soft spot in the mat that will fail years early, or wind damage, which lifts and creases shingles along the rake and the ridge.
Neither is easy to see from the ground, which is the whole problem. A roof can be functionally storm-damaged and look completely normal from your driveway. That is why the inspection matters and why the inspection is free.
About the trucks that show up afterwards
Bristol gets storm-chasers. They arrive within days of any decent hail event, knock every door on the street, and are extremely confident that your roof is destroyed. Some of them are fine. Some of them are gone by the time the warranty matters. The questions worth asking anyone who knocks: where is your shop, how long have you been at that address, and who do I call in three years? How we handle a claim
We inspect and photograph everything — hail strikes with a marker for scale, lifted shingles, damaged vents, gutters and soft metals, because damage to soft metals is often what convinces an adjuster there was hail at all. You file. We meet the adjuster on the roof so the scope reflects what is actually up there rather than what was visible from a ladder. Then we do the work.
Two things we will not do: tell you that you have damage when you do not, and offer to cover your deductible. The first wastes a claim on your record; the second is illegal in Tennessee and anybody offering it is telling you what sort of company they are. Read how roof claims actually work before you file.
In the first 48 hours
Photograph everything from the ground, including the hail itself if it is still on the lawn, and note the date and time. Do not climb up. Get a tarp on any active leak — we will do that for you. Do not sign anything that assigns your claim to a contractor. Our first-48-hours guide covers the rest.
